When you buy your jeans in the shop, free repairs and hemming are included, all carried out on site in the store’s own workshop and machine park. From the Swedish School of Textiles to the street Tredje Långgatan Göteborg Manufaktur opened the doors to its first standalone shop in 2016, but the story began earlier than that. Two years prior, the founders had already set up a denim workshop inside a vintage store in Majorna. Jonas Melin and Olof Norrman met at the Swedish School of Textiles and early on shared a vision of creating a denim shop offering some of the finest denim brands in the world. Today, you will find Göteborg Manufaktur on the street Tredje Långgatan, one of the city’s most well-known streets. Garments made to last Ethical production is a central part of Göteborg Manufaktur’s philosophy. This means working with sustainable materials such as natural fibres and natural dyes whenever possible, as well as ensuring fair wages throughout the entire production process. In addition to offering repairs, you can also resell jeans purchased at Göteborg Manufaktur through their Worn Not Wasted service, as part of a circular approach to fashion. In this way, each garment’s lifespan is extended and well-loved jeans can continue to roam the city streets, rather than ending up forgotten at the back of a wardrobe.
