The Plikta Playground in Slottsskogen has reopened – more exciting and fun than ever before. This much-loved playground is a popular destination for families and children, attracting around 200,000 visitors each year. It was Gothenburg’s first “destination playground” and is designed for both younger and older children. However, the large number of visitors had taken its toll, and the need for renovation had become urgent. From mid-February to the end of June 2025, the City of Gothenburg upgraded and developed Plikta into an even better and more inclusive playground. What makes the new Plikta especially unique is that many of the new features are based on the children’s own ideas. Among the new play opportunities are: A water-themed concept, featuring rideable perch and pike sculptures, as well as playful penguin statues A viewing tower with climbing features, a rope bridge and a slide A boat for little explorers and a stream winding through the area A dinosaur skeleton excavation site in the sandbox In addition, a weather shelter will be installed during autumn 2025, making the playground usable in all kinds of weather.
