Vasakyrkan

If you’re walking through the neighbourhood of Vasastaden, the church Vasakyrkan is hard to miss. This magnificent granite church was inaugurated in 1909 and designed by Yngve Rasmussen. Its architecture follows the Neo-Romanesque style, with elements of both Jugendstil and National Romanticism. Inside, a large mural in the chancel depicts the Ascension of Christ, painted by Albert Eldh in the 1920s. The church is open daily and there’s often something going on here. Look out for lunchtime music on Thursdays, and Lucia and Christmas concerts in December.
